Does Drift need an internet connection?
No. Playback is fully offline. Drift only goes online if you use optional lyrics or tag matching — and then it sends only the song title and artist.
Is there a subscription?
No. Free for your first 100 songs — every format, Wi-Fi import and per-song fixes included. A one-time purchase removes the cap and adds the automatic tier: tags, artwork and lyrics on import, one-tap library maintenance, duplicate cleanup and the AI curator. No account to create.
Can I play WavPack, APE or TTA files on an iPhone?
Yes — Drift plays them natively (no conversion), so a foobar2000 library plays on iOS without manual transcoding.
How do I get music onto my iPhone without a cable?
Turn on Wi-Fi import and drag files into any browser on your computer, browse a WebDAV network drive directly in the app, or use the Files app — SMB shares mount there.
Can Drift fix garbled music tags?
Yes. Tags written in GBK, Big5 or Shift-JIS that display as mojibake
(e.g. ¡«Áµ¤ÎÓê¡«) are repaired in one tap. Repairs are
stored in Drift’s library — your original files are never
modified.
Where do lyrics come from?
Drift matches lyrics from open sources, including the community-run LRCLIB database, plus lyrics embedded in your files and sidecar .lrc files. Only the song title and artist are sent when searching.
Does Drift collect my data?

Drift has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no trackers, and it stores nothing on our servers — there are none. Your music files and listening history stay on your device.
When you use optional lyrics or tag matching, only the song's title and artist are sent to open catalog services (LRCLIB, the iTunes Search API, MusicBrainz and Cover Art Archive); if you use the optional AI curator, only song titles, artists and play counts are shared — never audio. Optional iCloud backup stores your playlists and play history in your own iCloud Drive, under your Apple Account. Purchases are processed entirely by Apple; we never see payment information.
